SOLIHULL was awash with colour, joy and togetherness at its first pride event.
A vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and diversity to the town centre at the weekend.
The event, organised by Solihull Business Improvement District (BID) saw a spectacular weekend of inclusivity, joy, and unity for people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities.
The two-day event offered a series of events and activities, including a colourful parade, live music performances and special guests including award-winning cabaret artist Fatt Butcher and celebrity hairdressers Royston Blythe and Nick Malenko.
It was compered by presenter Phil Oldershaw, and featured musical tributes to Madonna, Cher and Elton John.
Solihull Pride was been made possible thanks to support from headline sponsor npower Business Solutions (nBS), Associate Sponsors Davisons Law, John Lewis and Partners, National Lottery Community Fund, Paragon Bank, Muse, Solihull BID, Solihull College and University Centre and Touchwood and Support Sponsors CGI, David Wilson Homes and Howden.
Melanie Palmer, chief executive of Solihull BID, said: “The first ever Solihull Pride surpassed all our expectations! The town centre was filled with love, kindness and unity.
“Every Pride event is a powerful platform to challenge discrimination and hatred. The happy faces, colourful flags, dancing and live music created a wonderful atmosphere of joy across the town centre. It sent such a positive message to all that equality and diversity are shared values that make our community stronger.”
Observer photographer, Marcus Mingins, was on hand to capture a slice of the action.
