Germany has confirmed it will dismantle the Transrapid test facility in Emsland by 2034, bringing an end to a site once central to its high-speed maglev ambitions. The decision comes as politicians are increasingly backing new maglev and Hyperloop pilots, raising the question of why proven technology is being dismantled while relatively untested concepts are gathering sudden momentum.
