More than 100 shoppers lined up on Tuesday, September 9, to be the first to step inside the sweetie giant’s new unit at Silverburn Shopping Centre.

Celebrations kicked off at 10am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the brand’s beloved mascot Goldbear, who was joined by the deputy leader of Glasgow City Council, Councillor Ricky Bill, and Caroline Young, head of fundraising at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Once inside the 2500 sq ft store, customers were able to explore an extensive range of products, including global favourites from Spain, France, and Germany, as well as exclusive plush toys.

The highlight for many visitors was said to be the exclusive ’Pick Your Mix’ station featuring over 40 varieties of Haribo and MAOAM treats.

During the first hour of opening, anyone who posed for pictures in front of the in-store Goldbear display and uploaded it to their socials was given a free packet of Haribo Nostalgix.

The first 75 paying customers also received a free mystery bag packed full of Haribo’s favourites.

Speaking at the grand opening, Councillor Bell said: “This is a great addition to Silverburn’s retail offer and I’m delighted that Haribo, with its incredible global reach and recognition, has selected Glasgow as the location of its most northern store in the world.

“Of course, this is going to be a huge draw for youngsters from all over the country, and you can see that popularity already today.

“But don’t bet against the grown-ups popping in too for some Star Mix or Tangfastics. And it’s great to see Haribo Silverburn choosing Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity as its charity partner, as they celebrate today’s grand opening.”

Caroline Young, head of fundraising at Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital Charity, told of the difference the partnership will make.

She added: “We are thrilled that Haribo Silverburn has chosen Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity as their charity partner, as they celebrate the opening of their first store in Scotland.

“This partnership will help us make a lasting difference for the babies, children, and young people cared for at Scotland’s largest children’s hospital.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of Haribo Silverburn, and we wish the team every success with the exciting launch of their new store.”

He commented: “The opening of Haribo’s first ever Scottish store at Silverburn is a really exciting moment for us.
