Multiple flood warnings and alerts have been issued for parts of Wales after periods of heavy rainfall. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) have issued the alerts for large parts of the coastline, including areas in east and west Wales.
There are seven flood alerts in force for the following areas: Pembrokeshire coast, Ceredigion coast between Clarach and Cardigan, Wye Estuary in Monmouthshire, Usk Estuary, Llyn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay coastline, Carmarthenshire coast and the north Gower coast. The alerts warn locals to “be prepared” as flooding is possible.
There is also one more serious warning in place for the tidal area at Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park, Kidwelly. This type of warning is issued when flooding is expected.
NRW say “immediate action” is required in this area, with flooding to some properties, including static and mobile caravans, expected.

“Flooding to property is expected. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is ongoing. For the next high tide impacts are expected to occur from 8pm on Tuesday September 9.
“For the next high tide winds are forecast to be force 4 on the Beaufort Scale from a south south-westerly direction. We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next three days. The warnings come as Wales is set for a few particularly grim days of weather according to the Met Office. For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter
The weather agency expects it to be very unsettled over the coming days, with plenty of heavy rain. With autumn having well and truly and truly arrived, it also looks like this weather is only set to continue.
For Wednesday, the weather agency’s forecast says: “Often cloudy with early showers, then rain spreading from west to east. Sunnier skies arriving in most places by late afternoon. Generally breezier, and rather windy in some coastal areas. Maximum temperature 18 °C.”
For the rest of the week, the weather is expected to be “changeable”, with sunny spells and blustery showers. The Met Office warn that these showers will be “frequent and occasionally heavy with hail and thunder possible.”
The Met Office’s long-range forecast also looks poor for anyone hoping for some dry spells. The weather agency said: “Generally unsettled with low pressure dominating much of the period. This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect most of the UK at times.
“A deep low likely crosses the country later on the weekend clearing early next week bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Following this a return to showers with periods of longer spells of rain is likely.
“Thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds, especially if further deeper lows affect the UK. Later in the period, there may be some spells of drier weather that develop, especially towards the south, with more in the way of sunshine.
“Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but may rise above at times in drier, sunnier spells.”
