A man is fighting for his life after being ‘hit around the head’ on a Bolton street.

Emergency services raced out to Gibraltar Street, in Bolton, at around 4.55pm on Tuesday afternoon (September 9).

Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to reports of an assault.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with ‘potentially life-threatening injuries’.

The Manchester Evening News understands that the victim is believed to have been hit around the head.

Images from the scene showed a cordon in place on Tuesday evening, with multiple police vehicles and an ambulance in attendance.

GMP is now urging witnesses to come forward, with no arrests made so far.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating reports of an assault on Gibraltar Street, in Bolton, at around 4:55pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 9).

“The victim, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment on potentially life-threatening injuries.

“No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

“We are appealing for witnesses of the incident to get in touch with police.”
