The UK boasts no shortage of family-friendly beaches with golden sand and blue water. However, it’s also home to hidden coves and secret spots, ideal for more adventurous beachgoers. One lesser-known beach in Cornwall is Rinsey Cove, found along the South West Coast Path – it is about a four-hour drive from Cardiff.

It’s essential to plan ahead before visiting the beach, which is only accessible at low tide and accessed via rocks. Yet, for holidaymakers keen to explore the Cornish coastline, it may well prove worthwhile to experience the breathtaking scenery, reports the Express.

The National Trust page for Rinsey and Trewavas states: “Positioned on the SW coast path, Rinsey & Trewavas boast views down to the Lizard Peninsula and West across Mounts Bay. Exploring Rinsey & Trewavas never disappoints; from spotting wildlife, watching the waves crash onto the beach or exploring the mining remains perched high on the cliffs.”

Visitors should check tide times before visiting and take care along the coast. “Rinsey cove is a small and remote beach only accessible at low tide so make sure to check tide times before visiting,” says the National Trust. “Access down to the beach is via slippery rocks so be aware of the risk of rockfall in the area. Strong waves and currents with no lifeguard cover so take extra care if going in for a dip.”

Rinsey Cove has become an internet sensation on TikTok, with @mvaguex gaining 50,000 likes after sharing a video of the “10/10” rock pool. An impressed viewer replied: “I don’t believe this is in Cornwall.”

A second thought: “It’s so pretty.” A third added: “All I can say is wow.” A fourth said: “I’ve been there it’s so nice.” Someone else commented: “I’ve been there it’s 10/10 but freezing.”

Another fan replied: “I go there all the time it’s so nice there.” A viewer said: “Omg so beautiful I could swim in that right now.” Someone echoed: “Beautiful view.”

Rinsey Cove also received glowing praise from an Explore Cornwall reviewer, who wrote: “A quiet, remote beach in a hidden cove with golden sand, rockpools and stunning views of the heritage coastline.”

Commenting on the blog post, a different visitor added: “Beautiful natural small beach cove. The sand was very low when we went beginning of June so the drop from the rocks to the beach was high…slippy to get back up. Steep rocky paths for access down but the less accessible is what makes this cove more beautiful and untouched.

“Tides when we went were low early morning and before sunset…amazing sunset views from the paths and the wheal prosper mine. The cove has a lovely fresh water cave…water pools of icy fresh water trickling from the cliff rocks. The sand has remnants of copper that glistens with the crushed shell white sands.”

They continued: “Not for young children or those less able. We didn’t swim only paddled to our knees as we were warned of undercurrents but the water is azure blue and so crystal clear. Best bit…we were the only 2 people there…had it all to ourselves!”
