Edinburgh Art Fair 2024
Written by Midlothian View Reporter, Liam Eunson
Established in 2005, Edinburgh Art Fair are celebrating their milestone 20th anniversary showcasing art work from 50 exhibitors who will be travelling from around the UK, the Maldives, Japan, Soth Korea, Europe, and Africa to show their talent at Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
In their 20 years, the Edinburgh based art exhibitors and fair have introduced art galleries to Scotland’s capital from over 50 nations, showcasing thousands of artists from around the globe.
After forming two decades ago and welcoming 250,000 visitors through their doors, they aimed ‘to create a new event in Scotland for the residents of the capital’, who were already familiar with exhibitions, art festivals and fairs. The goal was to host an art event that showcased original artwork from around the world, and on their 20th anniversary they are exhibiting artwork from a wide variety of countries from established artists, mid-career professionals, recent graduates and even self-taught unrepresented artists.
With many people aware of stories about paintings selling at auctions for millions, which has fostered the perception that art collecting is exclusive to the elite, the art fair seeks to dismantle this myth by allowing visitors to purchase unique high-quality pieces at their event for as little as £100.
Welcoming over 250,000 visitors through their doors since forming, this year’s 20th anniversary year will seek to offer the same ethos of art as affordable and allow the people of Edinburgh a chance to take home creative art at a lower price than traditional art auctions.
The fair will be open on Friday the 19th of September through to Sunday at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange.

A member of Edinburgh Art Fair’s team, Sonia Tripoli, explained:
“Our ethos is simple: art should belong to everyone, not just an elite few. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or someone simply curious, there’s something here for you – original pieces crafted with time, passion and love, across all price ranges.”
Sporting the motto, ‘Art is for everyone, Edinburgh Art Fair welcomes individuals from all demographics, including children. Being passionate about sharing art, the fair encoruanges creaticity from young visitors through their ‘Open Easel Sessions’, which run in collaboration with their partners at The Edinburgh Art Shop. With the partner shop providing materials and support, entertainment will be provided to the young budding artists through the creation of their own masterpieces while their parents explore the fair.
Another member of the fairs team, Mike Smith, added:
“Art reminds us that no matter how different our stories are, we are all connected by the same human spirit. Art has a unique power to bring people together – it transcends language, culture, and background, creating a shared space where we can see ourselves in each other.”
Allowing both people to purchase art and young artists to gain recognition, the fair offers a service to both buyers and artists. By allowing art to be purrchased at a lower non-exclusive level Edinburgh Art Fair attempts to make the appreciation of art inclusive and for everyone, no matter age or background.
Lining the walls with art from around the world, the fair creates a rish and diverse mix of cultures, genres, subjects and talents. Alongside the art, a documentary film, an animated film and a number of talks will be available during the event.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, Edinburgh Art Fair continues their passion for art and allows anyone to both see and have an opportunity to purchase top-quality art work. Hosting their milestone anniversary fair at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange and welcoming art from over 50 nations, they are hoping for the biggest and best fair this year in their 20 year history.
Edinburgh Art Fair will take place on the 19th to the 21st of September, running all day.
