An ambulance has been involved in a crash which closed a major road in Edinburgh city centre.
Police Scotland said the incident happened on Lothian Road, at its junction with West Approach Road, at about 17:00.
A photograph from the scene shows a badly damaged ambulance after it almost toppled a pole on an island separating four lanes of traffic.
Police said that a short time later, a two-vehicle crash was reported on Shandwick Place at the junction with Princes Street.
Emergency services are in attendance and drivers have been asked to avoid the areas.
