A police vehicle was involved in a road traffic incident on Princes Street, with bus and tram services seeing delays.
The crash was the second collision to occur in the span of just an hour in the area, after an ambulance collided with a traffic light on Lothian Road.
The incident took place around 6pm on the junction of Prices Street and Lothian Road.

An image from the scene shows a mangled police vehicle halted in the middle of the road. Another car can be seen stopped in front of the police vehicle.
Its front bumper seems to be hanging from the car while its bonnet appears completely destroyed.
Transportation services have been impacted in the area. Lothian buses alerted travelers of diversions in the Princes Street and West End area, affecting the 1, 10, 11, 15, 16, 43, 106, 113, X4, X6 X7, X27, and X28.
Edinburgh Trams also took to social media saying: “Due to an ongoing incident on Princes Street, we are part route between Airport to West End, and Picardy Place to Newhaven.
“We apologise for any disruption to your journey.”
A witness told Edinburgh Live: “It was quite bad. The trams can’t get through and there is a lot of traffic now.”
A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: “Lothian Road in Edinburgh is closed at the junction with West Approach Road and Shandwick Place is closed westbound at the junction with Princes Street due to two separate crashes.
“Around 5pm on Friday, 12 September, 2025, we received a report of a one-vehicle crash at the junction with West Approach Road on Lothian Road.
“A short time later, a two-vehicle crash was reported on Shandwick Place at the junction with Princes Street.
“Emergency services are in attendance and motorists are asked to avoid the area.”
