Liverpool could look to beat a whole host of clubs to the signing of Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, according to reports – with the Premier League champions having ‘expressed an interest’ in signing him to thicken their midfield ranks going into the future.

Stiller, who started his career at Bayern Munich, couldn’t quite force his way into the first-team at the Allianz Arena, moving on for pastures new in 2021 to join Hoffenheim. He impressed enough to fashion a move to Stuttgart, appearing in the Champions League in the 2024/25 campaign, and those performances at such a young age have tempted the Anfield outfit to pique their interest.

The report by Spanish outlet Fichajes states that the Premier League transfer market is already heating up, and that could see Stiller become one of the most coveted targets in the top-flight. Liverpool are one of the clubs battling for his signature, and the Reds have expressed their interest in signing him.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are the two starting options in Liverpool’s midfield cohort at present, but that double pivot needs backup. Whilst Wataru Endo has been a solid servant for the club, Stiller’s age and international promise, having been Endo’s backup at Stuttgart, has seen him on the shortlist of various top-flight clubs.

Stiller is thought to have a release clause of €40million (£34million) in his contract, which only runs until next summer – making him seen as an ‘attractive’ figure, considering how much players tend to cost in the current market, as well as his potential having been named as a ‘complete‘ midfielder.

Liverpool could see him rival Gravenberch for minutes in the centre of the park, and only being one year older than the Dutchman, the two could forge a solid understanding for many years to come at the Premier League holders.

Whilst Stiller won his first major honour last season as Stuttgart took home the DFB-Pokal, he’ll be keen to win more trophies at Liverpool, who have taken home seven major honours (excluding Super Cups and Charity Shields) in the past six years, and having had an incredible summer transfer window that has seen the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong join the club among others, those chances are only set to increase.

Stiller made his Germany debut just over a year ago, and has produced five caps since, including appearances in the recent international break for ‘Die Mannschaft’ as they took four points from six in the World Cup qualifiers.
