Prince William is keeping his distance from Prince Harry. After the Prince of Wales failed to reunite with the Duke of Sussex during Harry’s recent visit to England, one royal expert is shedding some light on why the brothers didn’t try to bury the hatchet.

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Prince William made the right choice by maintaining his boundaries when it comes to Prince Harry after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, spoke out numerous times about their rift with the firm. “The royal family will be watching [Harry’s] behavior to see if it has changed at all. William quite rightly doesn’t trust him and, true to his principles, is avoiding someone who ruthlessly monetizes his royal links,” Fitzwilliams said.
One member of the royal family Prince Harry is rumored to be cashing in on is his late mother, Princess Diana. According to reports, the father of two and wife Meghan Markle might produce a documentary about the late Princess of Wales as part of their renewed Netflix deal. If they move forward with the plan, it’s likely to cause friction with Prince William and King Charles III. “It won’t go down very well with the king or with Prince William,” journalist Phil Dampier said. “I think they’ll be absolutely horrified and [the] Prince of Wales will particularly think that his mother’s being exploited when he wants to sort of leave that all behind him.”
During his recent trip to the U.K., Prince Harry visited King Charles III for an hour-long tea after not seeing each other for more than a year. While the meeting wasn’t long, the reunion appeared to go well. In the hours after the get-together, the Spare author attended an event for the Invictus Games, where a reporter asked about Charles’ health amid his cancer battle. Harry replied, “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”
Prince William reportedly thought the meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles III was a “terrible idea.” Said an insider, “Ultimately, William is a loyal soldier. He respects his father’s rank, and he respects his father’s right to make his own decisions and he won’t make a fuss if [the meeting] happens.”
