Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has given an interesting insight into the final days of the transfer windowBirmingham City manager Chris Davies
Birmingham City were ‘open-minded’ to the possibility of adding another number 10 to their arsenal on deadline day, manager Chris Davies has revealed.
Blues added two new players on the final day of the transfer window, Patrick Roberts and Jack Robinson, and both could make their debuts today against Stoke City.
The club signed 12 new players in total following their return to the Championship but there was a possibility that another one could have arrived late on.
In his interview with BBC Radio WM before the Stoke match, Davies let slip that Blues scoured the market for number tens.
He said: “We were looking at attacking midfielders, number tens. If the right kind of thing came up we were open-minded there.”
Blues are relatively well stocked in that position already. Jay Stansfield started Blues’ first three games just behind striker Kyogo Furuhashi and Lewis Koumas, albeit naturally a left-winger, played there against Leicester.
Davies also has the options of Iceland international Willum Willumsson, Marvin Ducksch, Tommy Doyle and Kanya Fujimoto – who is yet to appear in a Championship game for Blues – in that position.
