The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has offered an exciting update on the upcoming series The Boys: Mexico.
First announced back in 2023, the new series in Prime Video’s superhero franchise comes from executive producers – and Hollywood actors – Diego Luna (Andor) and Gael García Bernal (Werewolf by Night), and will be set in Mexico.
“The pilot of The Boys: Mexico is being developed right now,” Kripke revealed during an interview with Collider this week, where he shared some new details about the show.

“It’s very cool. I mean, who knows – obviously you never know, but I can say that the world itself meets the standard of all of our spin-offs. It’s our world but a totally different tone, and it’s super fun.
“Gael and Diego are executive producers, which is amazing and [they] really engaged with it, so – short answer is we’ll see, but I think the script is good.”

In 2023, Prime Video announced that Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Blue Beetle) was penning the script for this Mexico iteration of The Boys, but no further details about the creative team, cast or plot have been unveiled since then.
Elsewhere in the franchise, Gen V is returning with a season 2, set to be released next week. The spin-off focuses on the next generation of supes at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting as they compete for a chance to join The Seven.
The first season was a huge hit with both critics and fans, with some reviews describing the series as “a dark and twisty show set in a dark and twisty world”.

Gen V season 2 will pave the way for the release of The Boys’ fifth and final season next year. Filming on the new episodes has already wrapped, with the main cast including Anthony Starr and Karl Urban set to reprise their characters one last time.
Following the end of the franchise’s flagship show, Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash will return as Soldier Boy and Stormfront for the upcoming prequel Vought Rising.
The series will serve as an origin story for the characters as well as Vought International, with the narrative being a murder-mystery in 1950s New York City.
The Boys: Mexico has yet to confirm a release date. Gen V season 2 premieres on Prime Video on 17 September.
