Graham has secured a £49.9m contract to deliver the main construction works for Oasis Academy Temple Quarter in Bristol.
The Department for Education (DfE) appointed Graham through a framework call-off.
Work began on 26 August and is scheduled to complete by 9 July 2027, the DfE stated in a 13 September contract notice.
The 1,600-pupil secondary school will form part of the wider Bristol Temple Quarter campus (pictured). The scheme has been designed by architect Stride Treglown, with Pearce Planning acting as planning consultant, according to data intelligence provider Glenigan.
Planning permission for the school was granted by Bristol City Council in 2020. Government funding for the new facility was not confirmed until April 2022.
The new school is located in the Temple Quarter regeneration zone. Planning permission has been granted for 23,542 square metres of floor space across the site, including offices, research and development facilities, non-residential institutions and a café.
Other plots will deliver up to 841 student units, 367 flats – including 73 social-rent homes – and additional commercial and office space.
The wider scheme includes full demolition, site-wide remediation, and the redevelopment of former industrial buildings.
Work also includes associated infrastructure and access road works.
The project aims to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and has been designed using building information modelling (BIM).
