More than 30 firefighters are tackling a blaze on the roof of a 16-storey building that is under construction in Birmingham city centre.

The crews have been at the building on Colmore Circus Queensway, after West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) was alerted at about 16:30 BST.

Colmore Row has been shut and people have been urged to avoid the area, and to use different routes during rush hour.

There were no tram services between St Chads and Edgbaston Village at about 17:00 and National Express West Midlands said there were no bus services on Livery Street, Edmund Street, Newhall Street and Margaret Street at about 17:25.
