A woman has been seriously injured after being struck by a car. Merseyside Police were called to the junction of Stanley Road and Boundary Street in Kirkdale at around 3.20pm this afternoon, Tuesday, September 16.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury. The driver stopped at the scene, police said.

Stanley Road was partially closed following the crash. Arriva North West warned its customers diversions would be in place due to the incident.

The bus company posted on X: “Due to a police incident at Boundary St / Stanley Rd, services 52 52A & 55 will divert via Scotland Rd, Everton Valley, Smith St & Lambeth Rd to Stanley Rd in both directions.

“Delays are likely please allow extra time for your journey.”

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We received a report of a collision involving a car and a female pedestrian at the junction of Stanley Road and Boundary Street at around 3.20pm this afternoon (Tuesday September 16).

“Emergency services attended the scene and the woman was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury. The driver stopped at the scene.
