Many communities in Scotland will have been bewildered by the sudden appearance of a sea of Saltires.

Those responsible for hoisting the flags to lamp-posts claim to be serving the local people.

But it doesn’t take much to scratch through to the real motivation behind the Tartan Team and others aligning their flag days with the big London demo of Tommy Robinson.

There is no better example than Kieran Logan, a young Glaswegian now playing the “I’m no racist” card.

Logan claims to be “speaking up for people” as he vows to make “big changes” in communities – but his social media reveals his true hand.

He is just another petty racist, obsessing over immigration and blaming all of Scotland’s problems on immigrants.

He talks about gassing asylum seekers and glories in the deaths of people crossing the channel.

And, rewriting history, he thinks he can detail how Hitler’s only mistake in running Germany was… the Holocaust.

He also speaks with warm words about his right-wing idol, Tommy Robinson.

But the truth is Logan is little more than a Robinson wannabe who makes the English rabble rouser look like an orator.

His delusions of grandeur have allowed him to fantasise about a time in the future when he has 100,000 followers, all prepared to back him on protests that will shake the foundations of Scottish society.

But he is a man who should be shouted down and dismissed. His brand of racial intolerance and ignorance has no place in our communities.

Build a future

The number of Scots stuck living in temporary homeless accommodation like run-down hotels or B&Bs stands at a record high.

Official figures show 17,240 households were in council-funded properties in March 2025 – an increase of six per cent.

That number includes more than 10,000 children. Youngsters who go to school and return to a home they might stay in for six weeks or six months. The 10,000 figure has barely changed over the last year.

Whatever work the Scottish Government is doing alongside cash-strapped councils, it’s made very little difference so far.

It was local authorities who raised the alarm by declaring homeless emergencies in their local area, something SNPministers were less than impressed about.

But whatever your political viewpoint, it’s appalling that 10,000 children are stuck living in unsuitable properties where they can’t plan a future.

Scotland needs more affordable homes. Building them should be an urgent priority.
