Bristol’s George Clarke has shown Strictly Come Dancing fans he is hugely proud of his home city in his BBC launch video on Instagram. The YouTuber and podcaster will be a contestant on the new series of the award-winning dance show, which starts this weekend.
And the content creator, who is from Bristol, is showing he is super proud of his roots by strutting his stuff and having a laugh in front of the camera, which appears to have been filmed in the city.
Sharing the footage on Instagram, BBCStrictly posted: “Caught doing the ‘Hip Pop’ in 4K George Clarke is bringing all the moves to the #Strictly Ballroom.”
The online personality, commonly referred to as George Clarkey, was confirmed as the sixth participant for this series of Strictly Come Dancing, last month. The celebrity is a British digital creator and co-presenter of The Useless Hotline podcast alongside Max Balegde.
When asked in his intro video why he decided to do Strictly, he said: “Because I can’t say no to things.”

And when asked what he’ll bring to Strictly, he replied: “Some stiff hips and a good attitude.”
He revealed his favourite Strictly contestant is John Sergeant and his nan will be cheering him on during the shows.
George will join the likes of Vicky Pattison, Dani Dyer and many more in the famous ballroom where their professional partners will put them through their paces and prepare them for some knockout performances and the critiques from the Strictly judging panel.
On joining Strictly Come Dancing, George Clarke said previously: “Never thought I’d say this but I’m doing Strictly! Honestly, I’ve got no idea what I’m doing but I’m excited to get stuck in and potentially fall over a fair bit.”
The 23rd series will start on Saturday, September 20 when we’ll find out which professional dancers the celebrities will be paired up with.
