The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office wrote on social media: “We have been advised that the military lost contact with a helicopter in the area, and we are working closely with the Joint Base Lewis–McChord (JBLM) to deploy any resources needed to assist.”

A person on X claims a witness “reported hearing aloud explosion and stopped hearing the sound of a helicopter. An additional person reported the same.” The post added that one body has been located but JBLM is not sure how many were in the helicopter.
