Leeds United fans want Daniel Farke to drop a surprise player for today’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

It’s a huge game for both clubs, with Leeds United looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their last away fixture last weekend against Fulham.

Wolves’ Vitor Pereira has a plan for Leeds and there are also 61-year records at stake for Wolves vs Leeds as well. It is Daniel Farke’s first taste of the fixture as Leeds boss and Farke has a poor record vs Wolves during his managerial career.

Some, like Chris Sutton, are predicting defeat for Leeds at Molineux. Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson thinks Wolves beat Leeds, too. Leeds will hope that they can pile on the misery for a Wolves team with four defeats in a row already.

Injuries dictate that Jack Harrison or Brenden Aaronson will start vs Wolves today, with creating chances very much an issue that Leeds fans are concerned about both short and long-term.

Farke has worked on Leeds’ finishing ahead of Wolves but their chief creator of chances has been Anton Stach so far. In part, that is due to the fact Stach is the current Leeds set-piece taker.

A combative midfielder, Stach is up with Bruno Fernandes for chances created in the Premier League so far. In fact, Stach has bettered Emi Buendia under Farke for a number of impressive categories.

Stach has teased Wolves ahead of Leeds’ visit but many fans are not particularly impressed with his recent games in a white shirt. One said: “I think he’s trying to do too much.”

Another added: “He’s a premier league level midfielder yes. Ampadu and Tanaka are better though really shows how good our recruitment was last season under an experienced head of recruitment. But he is decent down to him and Longstaff to fight it out.”

A further response read: “I dont know really what to think, against Everton he was class, but it js seems like he’s still adjusting to how different the premier league is to the Bundesliga, still i reckon if we had proven attackers he would look miles better”

It’s interesting as many fans felt as though Stach was stong for Leeds for much of August despite some disappointing results. His performances were largely solid, even if Fulham was somewhat sub-par last time out.

Statistically, Stach is in impressive company for Leeds. Prior to that, Stach was labelled Leeds’ best signing of the summer on paper. He brings so much to Leeds both in and out of possession as well.

Per Wasi (@Wanalyst007) on Twitter/X, Stach is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders for SCA (shot creating actions) and his ball progression per touch, alongside Fernandes and Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Stach was Leeds’ most expensive signing at £19.9 million if all add-ons are met, but his numbers point to a player who could be a bargain by the time his Leeds career really gets going.
