Daniel Farke and his Leeds United side pulled level with the celebrated Marcelo Bielsa side with their crucial Premier League victory against Wolves.

Leeds United moved into the top half of the Premier League table with their thrilling win over Wolves, as three Leeds players scored their first goal for the club.

The win will help to lift the malaise that has surrounded the club in recent weeks, after a turgid 0-0 draw with Newcastle preceded a frustrating end to the transfer window for Daniel Farke. This was then compounded by the heartbreaking defeat against Fulham.

However, Noah Okafor’s bullish assessment of Leeds’ “incredible” win over Wolves hints that the Whites can now build a head of steam as they look to secure their top-flight status.

The omens after the Wolves game are good, as Farke and his side matched the start made by Marcelo Bielsa with their win at Molineux.

Leeds’ Anton Stach-inspired win over Wolves moves Farke’s side up to an impressive seven points from their opening five games of the season, having also secured a win over Everton in the opening round.

This means that Leeds have equalled the points total achieved by the celebrated Bielsa side, in a sign that the Whites are moving in the right direction under Farke.

Although the style of play employed by the two teams could not be more of a contrast, the end result is that Leeds have now won more than 50% of the total achieved by 20th-placed Southampton last season.

Bielsa’s side would famously go on to finish in ninth position in their first season back in the top flight, with 59 points from their 38 games.

Although this tally remains a long way off for Farke and his Leeds team, as things stand, they are matching Bielsa’s men, stride for stride.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, via Leeds Live, the Leeds boss refused to get carried away as his side claimed a statement win.

According to Farke, Leeds must remain humble as they prepare for an important game against Bournemouth in their next fixture.

The Leeds boss said: “I like to stay humble. We analyse what we have to do. Don’t like to speak too much in public about what we do. It’s a long road.”

With games against Tottenham, Burnley and West Ham to follow in the next month, points on the board could be crucial for the Whites as they look to steer clear of a relegation dogfight.
