Stephen Dale, aged 47, is due to appear before Birmingham City Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning, charged with the murder of 37-year-old Daniel Gardener.

It comes after West Midlands Police attended reports of a house fire on Saxons Way, Highters Heath, Birmingham, alongside fire service and ambulance colleagues shortly before 1.10am on Friday.

Tragically, one man, named by police as 37-year-old Daniel Gardener, was found seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He died a short time later.

The police investigation into the incident is still underway, with West Midlands Police asking anyone with information to contact them directly via their 101 number, or the Live Chat service on their website, quoting reference 174 of 19 September. 

A force spokesperson said: “We’ve charged a man with murder after another man was found dead following a house fire in Birmingham on Friday (21 Sep).

“We were called alongside fire and ambulance colleagues to the property on Saxons Way, Highters Heath, shortly before 1.10am on Friday.

“Daniel, aged 37, was found seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment, but tragically died a short time later.”
