The prestigious awards have just been announced, honouring top restaurants from all over the world, and five spots in Wales have made the cut as must-visits for food lovers

Tripadvisor has just announced the exclusive winners of its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants 2025, honouring the top-rated dining destinations worldwide – and five of them are in Wales.
The awards are based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews over the past 12 months, with winners representing the top one percent of restaurants listed on the site. The 2025 awards feature eight distinct subcategories: fine dining, casual dining, date night, hidden gems, vegan and vegetarian, and pet friendly. New for this year is the one-of-a-kind category, which recognises truly unique dining experiences.
To mark Tripadvisor’s anniversary this year, a special 25th anniversary category has been added to celebrate travellers’ all-time favourites. For the latest restaurant news and reviews, sign up to our food and drink newsletter here.
Last year’s Welsh winners included The Bank Restaurant in Barmouth and the Really Wild Emporium in St Davids, Pembrokeshire, as well as an Italian restaurant, Cigliano, in the middle of Cardiff.
As for 2025, there are five Welsh entrants, one in the ‘dating’ category top 10 and four in the ‘pet friendly’ category top 10. Of the five winners, three of them are in south Wales and two of them are in north Wales.

Yr Hen Fecw, Porthmadog
A charming restaurant-cum-B&B, Y Hen Fecws is a cosy bistro style eaterie, tucked away in the heart of Porthmadog. Dishes are curated by head chef, Ryan French and adopt a seasonal look.

The 2025 Best of the Best Restaurants are calculated based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings for restaurants on Tripadvisor collected from August 1, 2024 through July 31, 2025, specific to each award subcategory, as well as an additional editorial process.
