Top miler Field Of Gold, who is preparing for a return to action on British Champions Day at Ascot next month, has been handed the surprise option of the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar in November.
John and Thady Gosden’s colt appeared at a gallops event at the Henry Cecil Open Weekend in Newmarket on Sunday with stablemates Ombudsman, Damysus, Sweet William and Running Lion.
The Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winner is working his way back from a joint injury suffered in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in July and is expected to be stepped up in his work later this week.
