One of Broadway’s most acclaimed and top-earning musicals, MAMMA MIA!, is set to grace the stage at the Wales Millennium Centre. The visual narrative, crafted by Judy Craymer, weaves ABBA’s timeless songs into a story about a mother, a daughter and three potential fathers on a Greek island paradise.

The show has been captivating audiences globally and now this smash-hit is en route to Cardiff. Now in its 27th year, MAMMA MIA! has entertained over 11 million people and has staged more than 10,000 performances in London’s West End.

MAMMA MIA!, reports the Liverpool Echo, ecured its place as the 9th longest running show in Broadway history, where it enjoyed a record-breaking 14-year run.

In 2011, it made history as the first Western musical ever to be performed in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China.

Produced by Judy Craymer, MAMMA MIA! The Movie became the highest grossing live action musical film of all time upon its release in 2008.

A second film, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN, premiered in July 2018 and quickly became the most successful live musical movie sequel of all time.

Both films featured an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper, with Lily James, Andy Garcia and Cher joining them in the second film.

MAMMA MIA! will be showing in Cardiff from Monday, November 30, 2026 until Saturday, December 5, 2026.

Tickets will be available for general sale at 10am on Friday, 26 September.

MAMMIA MIA! Is also showing in Swansea, at Swansea Arena from Tuesday, January 13, 2026 to Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus are the creative minds behind the music and lyrics of MAMMA MIA!, with Catherine Johnson penning the script, Phyllida Lloyd directing, and Anthony Van Laast choreographing.

The production’s design is the work of Mark Thompson, while Howard Harrison takes care of lighting design, and Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken handle sound design.

Martin Koch supervises the musical aspects, as well as providing additional material and arrangements.
