BHU central library organizes book exhibition honoring Gandhi & Shastri VARANASI: The Central Library of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has organised a week-long book exhibition from September 26 to October 3 to mark the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday by BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi. It will remain open to readers and visitors until October 3. The special exhibition showcases books, research papers, magazines, and rare editions highlighting the philosophies, struggles, principles, and contributions of Gandhi and Shastri. Key themes include Gandhi’s biography and philosophy, his role in social reform, his influence on Western thought, Gandhi and literature, non-violence, Satyagraha, self-rule, environmental conservation, and women’s empowerment. Books on Lal Bahadur Shastri focus on his memoirs, commemorative volumes, parliamentary role, historical speeches, and his philosophy of simplicity and service. The exhibition also features rare letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to Madan Mohan Malaviya, a collection of rare photographs of Gandhi and Shastri, and screenings of documentaries and films based on their lives and work. Organisers said the exhibition is not only a collection of books but also an opportunity to embrace the ideologies and life values of the two national leaders.
