Entrepreneurship is about using minimum resources and achieving big dreams, C.K. Kumaravel, co-founder, Naturals Salon, said here on Monday.

He was speaking at the launch of the book, The One Rupee Indian Startup Engine: Decoding the Sachet Revolution, authored by him, along with his brother C.K. Ashok Kumar, Chairman of First World Community.

“Resourcefulness is much more than money; this is what we saw in our father [Chinni Krishnan] — how he tried again and again with minimum resources until the seed for [establishing] Velvette shampoo was sown. There are a lot of little lessons we have picked up from our father,” he added.

The book pays tribute to their father, the visionary Chinni Krishnan, who is known for ushering in ‘The Sachet Revolution’.

‘Rich content’

After releasing the book, N. Ram, Director, The Hindu Group Publishing Private Limited, said this book, which has an interesting and rich content, is a story of an unusually thoughtful and gifted person.

“There is a democratic aspect that underwrites the whole book; that is what we saw in the statement by Chinni Krishnan: ‘What a rich man enjoys, the common man should be able to afford too’. ‘The Sachet Revolution’ — it has brought about a major change, and Chinni Krishnan, who began it all, will be remembered for a long time to come,” he further said.

C. Sivasankaran, mentor, AIWO, said Chinni Krishnan was a visionary who transformed the way India consumed everyday products.

Affordable care

He pioneered the revolution, making quality personal care affordable to all of India, he said.

K. Pandiarajan, founder of the Ma Foi Group, said there were two facets to Chinni Krishnan; one was innovation, and the other, giving without asking ‘what’s in it for me’.

Suresh Sambandam, Founder and CEO of Kissflow; R. Balachandar, Executive Director, Junior Kuppanna; Latha Pandiarajan, co-founder, Ma Foi; V.M. Muralidharan, Chairman, Ethiraj College for Women; C.K. Ranganathan, Chairman and Managing Director, CavinKare Private Limited, were among those who spoke.

There was a panel discussion which was moderated by Sujith Kumar, founder of Maatram Foundation.
