I love being outdoors. Whether that’s going on hikes, swimming in the lake or just lying out in the sun, going outside is my favorite part of the day.

Other than sports, tell me something you’re really good at.
I am a really fast reader. I can finish a book in a day. If I have the energy, I can finish a book in two to three hours and have the time of my life.

What has been your favorite vacation?
My favorite vacation was definitely when I went to Yosemite National Park with my friend Ray. I went in July of 2023, and it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. The hikes were so worth it for the amazing views.

What was the most memorable thing you did in the summer?
Going to my cross country team’s camp. I truly love every single girl on my team, and getting to spend a weekend away with them and just hanging out by the lake created some of my best summer memories. We enjoyed amazing meals, made bracelets, played games, and obviously went and took pictures on our runs at sunrise.

Why do you enjoy running long distances?

It gives me something to be proud of. I like making goals for myself and then hitting those goals. Even if everything else is going downhill, you can always count on yourself to wake up in the morning, go for a run, and feel accomplished for the rest of the day.
Wolves sing their hearts out while running
What do you think about when you’re running?
During races and practices I think about very different things. My team runs with a small speaker, so usually we run as a pack and sing our hearts out on our easy runs, so the lyrics are taking up most of my thoughts. During races, I usually mentally repeat the phrase “You got to want it.”

What will you do after you graduate?
My future is a hopeful unknown. I would like to run in college, but we will see where I go within this season, track season, and my senior year.
Do you have any rituals on the day of a race?

It really just depends on the day. Sometimes I eat some fruit snacks, sometimes I’ll drink some caffeine, and other days I might just go in with a smile and hope for the best.

Dream dinner: Breaking bread with women who made a difference
If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

I would have dinner with Joan of Arc, Florence Griffith-Joyner, (marathon runner) Kathrine Switzer and Marie Curie.
I would love to talk to any woman who strived to make positive changes in the world. She was the fastest woman sprinter in the world. I would love to pick her brain and get to know what encouraged her, how she trained, and how she found her love for the sport.
You’re in charge of the menu. What will you serve?

A charcuterie board. I pack my lunch every single day for school, and it includes cheese, meat, crackers and fruits. If I could have a whole platter to serve others, it would literally be a dream come true.
