An Edinburgh woman was taken to hospital after a city centre crash involving a car and bus.

Police Scotland closed off Frederick Street at 9.35am after reports of the collision.

It is not known the nature of the woman’s injuries however locals reported the road being closed for several hours until 11.40am. Several Lothian bus services were also diverted.

An image from the scene, shared by bus driver Bill, showed a police car and a van at the north end junction of Frederick Street and Queen Street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.35am on Tuesday, 30 September, 2025, police received a report of a crash on Frederick Street, Edinburgh, involving a car and a bus.

“One woman was taken to hospital for assessment and the road was cleared around 11.40am.”
