Former Love Islander Katie Salmon tearfully broke her silence about being found guilty of assault on a person, causing them actual bodily harm. In July, Katie was found guilty of attacking her boyfriend’s second girlfriend on a street in Kettering, Northampton, with a hairdryer and a stiletto high-heeled shoe.

The star, who appeared on the second series of the dating show in 2016, made history as part of the first all-girl couple with the late Sophie Gradon, and she came fourth in the competition with co-star Adam Maxted.

Having been silent on social media since being found guilty of the assault, Katie returned to the internet with an emotional video.

The born-again Christian and OnlyFans influencer avoided jail time and was given a suspended prison sentence, reports the Mirror.

In a video filmed in her car, she said: “I have been wanting to come online and do this video for a while now and I’ve kind of just let a lot of people say a lot about me and write a lot about me and I just needed to just take some time off social media and I did. I haven’t been on it for over a couple of months now.

“I felt like today was the right time to do this video so that I can finally move on with my life and share the things that are really important to me and the causes that are really important to me.

“There’s been many decisions that have led me to this point over the years and there was a scenario that happened over two years ago which maybe some people know about and maybe some people don’t.”

Her voice trembled as she continued: “Unfortunately I’m not able to speak on that right now due to legal reasons and it breaks my heart that I’m labelled as something that I’m not or never have been.

“But with that being said I feel as though if I was to come on here and try and throw blame at anyone or try and say anything other than what I’m about to say would mean that I haven’t learned anything in my walk in the past two years with Christ and I have, and there’s a lot more to the story than what people even know.

“Maybe I’ll never even get to share that but that’s not important. What is important is what I learned from it and how I found God through it. I’m sorry that I haven’t been online and I haven’t been sharing my journey in faith or all the things that I was doing and sharing my new life.

“But it’s because my past caught up with me and I’ve had to learn to take accountability and face the repercussions and I had to say goodbye to my little girl not knowing if I was gonna see her again or how long it was gonna be until I seen her again and that was the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to do.”

She told fans: “Even if you want to judge me by them things and you’d want to unfollow me or you don’t want to be a part of my journey anymore or support then that’s absolutely fine.

“You are entitled to do that but if you know me, if you can feel my spirit. If you can feel my heart and who I really am then I’m asking you now to support me because this time in my life I could do with support. Because anybody that knows me, anybody that’s ever met me knows who I really am.”

Concluding her emotional social media statement, Katie added: “So if you were praying for my downfall I want you to know that this isn’t the end of me. this is only the beginning.

“Jesus is restoring what was stolen from me, he is healing what has been broken in me and I’m going to use that as fire in my spirit to make sure that I can make a change starting with me.”

In the caption, Katie admitted it was the ‘hardest post she’s ever had to write’ and described her ‘heavy’ journey in the last few months.

She revealed she has been moving forward ‘with hope and peace in her heart’, adding that ‘God will use what was meant to destroy her for good’.

“So to every woman reading this you are not your past. You are not what you did, and you are not what was done to you. You have every right to change, to heal, and to move forward,” Katie added.
