A new railway bridge was installed in August, with the line closed for three weeks while work took place.
The work this weekend will allow the project team to continue work underneath the new bridge.
The Network Rail project began in March this year and it is expected to finish in Spring 2026.
It is a key interchange between Stockport town centre, Shaw Heath and Edgeley.
