You probably mightn’t have noticed there are actually a few family sharing options buried throughout One UI. With Samsung’s next big update, One UI 8.5, all of these features will finally be gathered in one convenient place.
Family device sharing brings everyone together
A new option in the Settings app will let users create family groups using their Samsung account. They can then invite others to join that family group and seamlessly share content, devices, and experiences between each other.
A family payment method, for sharing cards for Samsung Wallet and Galaxy Store. Location tracking through Samsung Find, to keep tabs on the kids while they’re with friends. Shared health data, to compete with each other to get the highest step count. And a shared family album, for treasuring those precious moments. All in one centralised menu.
In addition, there is a new page to manage family requests. So if a member wants to buy a game from the Galaxy Store, that request will appear here. You can sort by family member, as well as see everything in the All tab. There’s also a dedicated page for inviting additional family members, although that feature is still being developed, as indicated by the TODO placeholder.
Overall, family sharing on One UI 8.5 is an exciting update for the whole family. It makes sharing content between each other much simpler, and bringing on additional members a piece of cake. Speaking of delicious stuff, go check out the rest of our One UI 8.5 coverage.
