Tributes have poured in following the announcement that Only Fools and Horses actor Patrick Murray has passed away. The performer was best known for portraying Mickey Pearce in the iconic British sitcom.
He also appeared in films including Scum, Quadrophenia and The Firm. His final television appearance was in the ITV series Endeavour back in 2015.
A message on the Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society Facebook page today honoured the actor following his sad passing, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The tribute from the group, which runs fan events and confirmed they had spoken with the actor’s relatives about the heartbreaking news, included photographs of Patrick as Mickey alongside Rodney Trotter, portrayed by Nicholas Lyndhurst.
The statement read: “Patrick Murray It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray – Mickey Pearce to so many.
“He was a regular attendee of our conventions and we will miss his humour and the joy he bought to many. Sleep Well Pat!”.
Carol Challis, widow of late Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis, was among those paying their respects on social media.
Writing on X, she said: “My condolences to Pat’s beloved wife Anong and their daughter Josie.”
She continued: “Sullivan loved Pat’s Mickey Pearce.”
Numerous supporters shared their own tributes in response to the devastating announcement.
Benedict commented: “Such sad news. A lovely gentleman. Thank you for the laughs where he’ll live on forever. Rest in Peace.”
James said: “RIP Patrick aka Micky Pearce was 1 of the best characters in OFAH always laughed at his parts he played it brilliantly, so very sad, he has joined Grandad, Uncle Albert, Mike, Trigger, Boycie and Sid, all OFAH legends”.
Chris wrote: “Rest peacefully Patrick. Mickey Pearce was a legendary character in fools.
“Thank you for the laughs, you’re going to be missed”.
Vic shared: “My deepest condolences to Patrick’s family he was a great character in only fools and horses my all time favourite comedy series R.I.P”.
Rick said: “RIP Patrick thanks for the laughs” Mary wrote: “RIP Patrick Murray, your humor and joy will be remembered.”
