Teenagers in Glasgow are being offered a chance to step behind the camera and into a studio with the launch of a brand-new Film&Screen Saturday Club that’s free to join and open to 13-16 year olds.

Part of the National Saturday Club, the weekly club has been created in partnership with Global Academy, a unique media school founded by Global, the Media & Entertainment group.

Applications are open now and it will take place at Global’s Broadcast Centre in the heart of the city on West Regent Street, home of Capital, Heart and Smooth Scotland.

Starting 8 November 2025, it will run every Saturday morning through to Summer 2026, offering hands-on training in film, radio, media and digital content creation.

Participants will gain practical experience in producing digital content for platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, alongside developing skills in filmmaking, editing and scriptwriting, as well as camera work, lighting and sound design.

The club will also be supported by broadcasters and producers from Global, who will deliver masterclasses and practical workshops.

Alongside weekly sessions, members can take part in national opportunities including masterclasses with industry experts, and a prestigious Summer Show.

Designed to welcome young people from underrepresented backgrounds, the programme recognises the vital role that extracurricular activities play in developing skills, building confidence and exploring future career options.

James Murray-Walsh, principal, Global Academy said, “I’m so proud we’re bringing the first ever Global Academy programme to Glasgow. This is an incredible opportunity for young people in Scotland to develop new skills, build confidence, and take their first steps into the media and entertainment industry.

“The initiative is designed to reach young people from all backgrounds, particularly those underrepresented in the creative industries, and aims to open up access to careers in film, media and digital content.”

The Film&Screen Saturday Club in Glasgow will run weekly on Saturdays from 10:30am- 1pm at Global Scotland, 8th Floor, 1 West Regent Street, Glasgow G2 1RW.
