A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a young father, Kassim Mohammed, 32, was shot dead on a Sheffield street.
“Devoted” father Kassim Mohammed, 32, died after he was shot in Watery Street in the Upperthorpe area of Sheffield on Tuesday night (September 30) – his death the only fatality of the three shootings to have rocked the city during the past three days.
A 31-year-old woman is currently in South Yorkshire Police custody, following her arrest in the early hours of this morning (Friday, October 3). A 22-year-old man had previously been arrested on suspicion of murder and also remains in custody.
Kassim’s family has since paid tribute to the “devoted” dad who had a “caring nature”. A statement released by South Yorkshire Police read: “A second arrest has been made in connection to the fatal shooting of Kassim Mohammed, as our investigation continues at pace.

“In the early hours of this morning (Friday 3 October), officers arrested a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. She currently remains in custody at this time.
“Kassim, aged 32, was fatally shot on Watery Street, in the Upperthrope area of Sheffield on Tuesday night (September 30).
“A murder investigation was quickly launched and is now continuing at pace and making significant progress.”
Speaking on the investigation, New Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, said: “We can confirm that we are now treating this as a targeted attack.
“We are working hard to determine the circumstances which led up to this awful incident and the death of Kassim.
“Our thoughts remain with Kassim’s loved ones who have lost a beloved family member and friend. Our priority remains on securing justice for them.
“We are still keen to hear from anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage and would encourage anyone who is yet to contact us in this regard to please get in touch via our Major Incident Public Portal.”
