A convicted killer who escaped prison on Tuesday remains at large.

Raymond McCourt, 59, absconded from HMP Castle Huntly. He was reported missing from the open prison at around 5.30pm on April 22.

New CCTV images show him on Duke Street in Glasgow at around 4.40pm on Tuesday. He was seen wearing a checked red, white and blue shirt with a basebell cap and rain jacket.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Raymond uses public transport and has connections to the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas. The public are being asked not to approach him.

“He is described as being 6ft 2in tall, stocky build with short grey hair and beard and has reduced mobility.”

McCourt was jailed for life in 1993 after murdering a newsagent. He shot Khalid Mahmood in the head, before attempting to rob a nearby bakery.

In 2015, he was released from prison though was soon sent back on theft charges.

Any sightings or information can be passed to officers via 101, quoting reference 2857 of April 22.
