Donald Trump has had a longstanding admiration for the Royal Family, which may explain why he’s so keen for King Charles to come visit him at the White House next year.
Trump was just in the U.K. for a state visit, and it went so well, the U.S. President plans to reciprocate and act as host to both Charles and Camilla.
Royal expert Pauline Maclaran is not surprised by the proposed invite because Trump likes rubbing elbows with the royals.
Maclaran told Daily Express US: “Yes, I expect Trump wants to continue his royal relationships and another state visit provides the perfect opportunity.”
She explained: “My guess is he will not be able to resist another occasion to feature himself playing a starring role in the pomp and pageantry, although of course, this will not be as evident or colorful as it was in England.”
From the outside looking in, most people would think the invite would be to strengthen the “special relationship” between the U.K. and U.S., but really, it may just be that Trump likes the royals.
Just recently, the U.S. President referred to the British monarch as his “best friend.” Possibly, it’s both, Trump really likes Charles, and as a result, their kinship will strengthen the bond between the two nations.
“The visit will certainly attract much attention and Trump loves that,” said Maclaran.
