Islington Road in Bockhampton, near Dorchester, will be closed from its junction with the C81, a distance of around 325m in an easterly direction.
The closure has been requested to allow Wessex Internet to install ducting and fibre cable.
These works are programmed to commence from Monday, October 6 until Friday, October 10.
Wessex Internet will publicise the road closure in a number of ways including the placement of information boards on the road in this area to inform the travelling public of the works.
They will carry out a letter drop to local residents directly affected by the works and they will sign a vehicular diversion route using the local road network.
A diversion route has been put in place for motorists along Islington Road and left to Puddletown.
