A WWE star is confirmed to be leaving the company, with their contract set to expire at midnight tonight and become a free agent.
Earlier today, it was reported that the contract of WWE SmackDown star Santos Escobar was set to expire ‘soon’ amid his ongoing absence from the show.
In an update on Santos’ status with the company from PWInsider Elite (via WrestlePurists), Santos’ contract with WWE is set to expire as of midnight tonight, with him set to depart the company and become a free agent.
As of midnight tonight, Escobar will be a free agent, and will be available to wrestle or sign anywhere that he wants to.
PWInsider notes that WWE had made overtures to keep Escobar under contract, which included a higher contract offer, but he turned down the offer.
Santos’ Legado Del Fantasma stablemates Angel and Berto of Los Garza were in action on last week’s episode of SmackDown, where they appeared without Santos, but still announced as representing the group.
