For about a year now, there’s been a faction of beauty lovers who’ve been skipping the spoolie and going mascara-free. It can feel ironically unnatural when you’re so used to coating your lashes in a thickening, lengthening coat of black pigment, not to mention there’s something inherently casual about letting your lashes just exist as is. But Meghan Markle‘s no-mascara look at Paris Fashion Week is all the proof we need that it can read remarkably glamorous.
The Duchess of Sussex attended the Balenciaga Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show over the weekend, wearing the drapiest of off-white ensembles. Her hair was pulled back in a super-sleek bun that helped spotlight her fresh-faced makeup—or lack thereof.
Markle’s skin was positively dewy, with freckles showing through any subtle skin tint or blush she may be wearing. There’s a barely-there pink tint to her lips, and both her lids and lower lash line appear to be topped with a hint of a creamy, ever so slightly shimmery bronze—and that’s the extent of the eye makeup.
Even the closest look suggests that Markle hard-passed on mascara (or, at the very least, wore the most subdued of brown mascaras), and while the Duchess has long been an avid mascara wearer, she is convincing us this is her look. Crisp yet soft, artsy yet muted, sophisticated yet youthful—and just as stylish and impactful as a full lash.
