BURBANK — The 2025 Sanchez Family Reunion got a star-studded surprise on Saturday.
Barbara Cosio Moreno and her extended family were gathered in Johnny Carson Park in Burbank for their annual gathering.
As the celebration was coming to a close, her cousins spotted “Dancing with the Stars” judge Derek Hough in the park. “Everyone watches the show. He was standing in the playground area. He was there with his wife (Hayley Erbert),” Cosio Moreno explained.
The cousin walked over and asked Derek if he would take a photo with the family because they are all fans of the show. “He was gracious and came over and we introduced him to my mother, Josie. We told him she was 94 and a fan. He opened his mouth and eyes wide because he couldn’t believe she was 94,” she added.

At that point, Derek grabbed one of the family member’s phones and said, “Everyone get in” and took a family selfie.
“He was so nice and gracious to come over and meet us. It’s a memory the Sanchez clan will always remember, and a super fun way to end the day,” she concluded.
Derek Hough was a professional dancer on “Dancing with the Stars” from 2007 to 2016. He has won the coveted mirror ball trophy a record-setting six times, dancing with Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley and Bindi Irwin. Hough joined the judging team in season 29.
