A Louisiana chief meteorologist was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly beat up his girlfriend at his home while her kids slept inside.
Devon Lucie, who was promoted to his new role at WDSU just two months ago, was taken into custody Sunday over a domestic dispute with his longtime partner, according to arrest records obtained by Nola.com.
Lucie’s partner told deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office that they got into an argument at a music festival in Gretna – about 10 minutes outside of New Orleans – prior to the incident, records detailed.
The weatherman, 48, then left the festival while the woman got a ride back with her mother before returning to Lucie’s home in Marrero.
The couple continued to argue at his house. Lucie briefly left the property but allegedly returned and started to punch his girlfriend in the bedroom while her two children slept in the living room, per records.
‘She said that they wrestled, and she fought back in self-defense,’ the document read.
The woman was left with ‘several small cuts and scratches on most of her upper body, as well as several whelps on her forehead and face,’ a deputy detailed.
The arrest report also stated that the meteorologist refused to provide his name or date of birth when asked to by officers.

The New Orleans native started the chief meteorologist role in August after his predecessor, Margaret Orr, retired after 45 years, the outlet said.
He attended the University of Oklahoma where he studied ‘tornadoes and severe storms in depth.’
Prior to his time with WDSU, Lucie worked for several other stations, including ones in Washington D.C., Denver and Kansas City.
