Police have seized more than 40kg of Class A drugs in a huge overnight raid of two cars and one house in Sheffield.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police confirmed officers searched two vehicles, one in Westwood New Road and another in Halifax Road at 7pm on Tuesday, October 7. A further search of a house in St Albans Road, Fulwood, was then conducted.

Across the three searches, police seized more than 40kg of Class A drugs, three firearms. Five people have been arrested.

Two men, aged 35 and 59, were arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug and possession of a firearm offences. A 55-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a firearm, while two further men, aged 26 and 34, were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

A spokesperon said: “At 7.05pm yesterday (Tuesday 7 October), officers reacting to intelligence conducted a search of two vehicles one on Westwood New Road, and one on Halifax Road Sheffield. Both vehicles were found to contain suspected Class A drugs.

“A further search of a property led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of suspected Class A drugs and three firearms. More than 40kg of suspected Class A drugs were seized in total from the cars and the property.

“Officers have arrested five people in connection with the incident. Two men, aged 35 and 59, were arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug and possession of firearms offences. A 55-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of firearms offences. Two men, aged 26 and 34 were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

“All five suspects remain in police custody at this time.”
