A Liverpool personal trainer is hosting a powerful Menopause Morning, after opening up about her own experience. Harriet McGuffie, from Childwall, said she is quite lucky when it comes to the symptoms of menopause but it was seeing her clients struggle that made her want to make a change.
On Saturday, October 11, guests will be taken on a journey of education to empower as many women as possible to evolve the way they look at their health through the decades.
With knowledgeable speakers taking to the panel to discuss their areas of expertise, the event includes powerful messages about female health including how to combat the effects of menopause, whilst providing an opportunity for women to ask questions from industry experts and receive factual information.
Harriet first got into the industry thanks to a gap year. The 51-year-old was due to be a PE teacher but this didn’t come to fruition.

After “sitting around in the house and getting under mum’s feet”, Harriet went to an aerobics class in her spare time. It was from here that her love of fitness grew to what it is today.
Harriet, who has over 25 years of experience in the health industry with running her own fitness studio on Woolton Road, will offer expert insight into the changes women’s bodies go through during menopause, how to train best based on different side effects of menopause and how to take care of yourself from the inside out.
The mum-of-three told the ECHO: “At the minute, I’m just going into it because of my age, so it isn’t too bad for me. I am okay; I have a few symptoms, but the worst is still to come.
“I am navigating it well through exercise. It is okay for now, and I’m quite lucky because of my job. It helps combat the symptoms. I have had a bit of brain fog and forgetfulness. There is still more to come, though.”
Alongside Harriet, there will be five other speakers that are experts in their fields. This includes Dr Hoyle, an experienced NHS GP and aesthetics doctor.
Margaret Bell, a trailblazer in women’s health, combining 47 years of cooking experience with a deep expertise in gut and hormonal health, will also be there.
Known as the retreat chef for Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival, Margaret’s food has delighted celebrities and wellness leaders with its balance of flavour, nourishment and hormone-friendly ingredients.
At the Menopause Morning, Margaret will deliver a talk and demo created especially for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. She’ll explore the link between gut health, declining hormones, and inflammation, as well as why joint pain and changing digestion often appear at this stage of life.
Harriet added: “I’ve been in the health and wellbeing space for over 25 years now and I see so many women each year who are suffering from the effects of menopause or perimenopause.
“It’s something all women will go through in their lives and I feel so passionate about supporting them in that transition. After all, that’s half of our population!
“From issues with sleeping to struggling with weight gain, gut health and energy, menopause affects every woman differently and my goal is to bring together industry leaders to provide expert knowledge on how to live healthier, happier and without menopause dominating their lives.”
Tickets are £40pp and available to purchase directly at Harriet McGuffie Fitness on Woolton Road, or via Instagram. They include tea, coffee and a healthy lunch.
