George got kicked out for inappropriate languageGeorge got kicked out the ITV show for inappropriate language

Big Brother housemate George Gilbert has finally spoken out following his removal from the show. ITV bosses took the decision to remove him after he used “unacceptable language”.

The Essex lad housemate proved a divisive character on the reality show, often engaging in spats with fellow contestants over his political views, which included calls for tougher measures against illegal migration by asylum seekers.

He also upset several housemates with his conduct, including performing a homophobic impersonation of another contestant that resulted in an official warning from Big Brother.

But his stint on the programme has now concluded, after he reportedly made an anti-semitic remark in footage that didn’t make it to air, as reported by the Mirror.

George has now addressed his exit from Big Brother. “As a flag bearer of freedom of speech, I never hesitate to discuss and question any topic regardless of how contentious it may be,” the 23-year-old said.

“Sadly, the boundaries of what is deemed offensive are subjective and I evidently went too far this time by crossing their line one too many times. It is a shame that specific debate could not be had and that it has had to end like this. Infamy, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me.”

George has stirred up controversy ever since stepping into the Big Brother house as an extra housemate last month. Within moments of his entrance, he appeared to body-shame fellow housemate Cameron Kinch by advising him against eating a biscuit.

He then spent several episodes sharing his views on immigration with the other contestants, causing upset by suggesting asylum seekers are treated better than British citizens and repeatedly referring to migrants as “illegal”.

His actions led contestant Sam Ashby to break down in tears after he performed a homophobic impression of their hand movements. George received a formal warning following this incident and apologised to Sam, but later nominated them for eviction because he felt he had to be careful with his words and “walk on eggshells” around them.

The next day, George also upset Jenny Baird, by interrupting her and addressing her as “love” during a debate about addiction. He continued to rile up fans by stating all the women in the house “look and think the same”.

His remarks about Pakistan Independence Day celebrations in the UK led another biracial housemate to say they would “never had my Britishness called into question” like that before.

Big Brother has aired all of this behaviour, including an incident where Caroline Monk misgendered trans housemate Zelah Glasson. However, producers deemed the comment which led to George’s removal too severe to broadcast.

In a statement, they said: “Following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour, George has been removed from the Big Brother House with immediate effect and will no longer participate in the programme.”

George’s removal will feature in tonight’s episode on Wednesday, October 8.
