Widnes Vikings can confirm that Ben Condon and Finlay Irwin have departed the club.

Condon, 25, signed for the Vikings halfway through the 2025 campaign and quickly became a fan favourite.

Crossing for five tries in 10 appearances, the powerful back rower also picked up the club’s August player of the month award for his efforts.

He departs to take up an exciting opportunity with a Super League club.

On his departure, Condon said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved with the club for making my time at Widnes so enjoyable.

“The fans were fantastic home and away, the support they gave us was a massive part of why I enjoyed my time with the club so much.

“The coaching staff and players were superb with me, obviously coming over mid-season, and I’m confident all the new players coming in are in good hands with them.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “All I can say about Ben Condon is what a player, and what a presence.

“I’m incredibly thankful to him for being a part of us and our history; he’s been an absolute credit.

“He’s going to where he deserves to be, and that’s playing in Super League. I can’t wait to see how he develops, and we wish him all the best.”

Also departing the club is Finlay Irwin, who made his debut from the bench in the Vikings’ final game of 2025 against the London Broncos.

The former Wigan Warriors academy product moves on as the club chose not to offer him a new contract for 2026.

Head Coach, Allan Coleman commented: “I want to wish Finlay all the best and thank him for his efforts last season. He’s a talented player and will be a great addition for whatever club signs him.”

Everyone at the club would like to thank Ben and Finlay for their efforts last season and wish them all the best for the future.
