Soon it will be October 31 again, and young and old alike are looking forward to the spookiest celebration of the year! But where does the tradition of Halloween actually come from? According to the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten,” the origin actually comes from ancient Ireland. On this day, the beginning of the harvest season and winter was celebrated. The belief was that on this night the boundaries between the living and the dead blurred–so people wore costumes to ward off evil spirits. Emigrants brought this custom to America, where it became a colorful festival with pumpkins, costumes, and parties.
