It was a very satisfying night at the office for England as they earned an easy win over Wales in a friendly at Wembley.

Morgan Rogers opened the scoring with a neat finish, Ollie Watkins bundled home a simple second shortly afterwards, and Bukayo Saka curled in a beauty to make it 3-0 after just 20 minutes.

England will face tougher tests than this, but given that it wasn’t Thomas Tuchel’s strongest XI, there was plenty to be encouraged about in that display.

It seems Tuchel was not entirely satisfied, however, as he aimed a dig at the England fans for not creating an atmosphere to match the team’s performance on the pitch…

  • Arsenal are confident over Jurrien Timber signing a new contract as he’s keen on committing his future to the club with a longer deal. Negotiations are ongoing to reach an agreement on salary terms, with Arsenal keen to reward the defender for his form. (Fabrizio Romano)

  • Arsenal also want a new contract for Martin Odegaard as their captain is reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG. (Fichajes)

  • Arsenal are among the suitors for Arda Guler in upcoming transfer windows, but he looks unaffordable as Real Madrid don’t want to sell for anything other than crazy money, possibly as much as €150m. (Fichajes)

  • Frenkie de Jong has approved the signing of a new Barcelona contract until June 2029. There is now a verbal agreement on every detail, and it’s just a matter of finalising formal steps on both sides. (Fabrizio Romano)

  • Kylian Mbappe on Lamine Yamal: “People talk a lot about his personal life, I think they should leave him alone. In football, he is a great player, but in life, he is an 18-year-old kid.” (Movistar)

  • Serge Gnabry on a new contract with Bayern: “It’s up to the club to approach me. Whether that will happen or not, we’ll see. I’m just focused on playing well. And then what will happen, will happen.”

  • Oliver Glasner plays down Bayern job links: “I’ve stopped following the media too much, there’s a lot of nonsense. Someone claimed I actually want to be Bayern coach. It amuses me when other people know what I want without having discussed it.”
