Having a baby changes everything, and there’s no sugarcoating the fact that it’s an exhausting, challenging, and sometimes overwhelming journey. And, when you’re the one who birthed the little one(s), a break is mandatory before the burnout sets in. As it turns out, this is something even birds go through.
For one Budgie, that means stepping in to care for five baby birds while Mama gets a much-needed time-out.

“This bird is the absolute BEST father. If I notice one has an empty crop, I can literally bring it over and he will feed it right away! (The mother DOES feed her kids, she just does it less than before, and he’s picked up the slack.),” the caption reads.
This is one Budgie dad who understood the assignment and did what needed to be done. Five baby birds are a lot of mouths to feed and cries to soothe, but he did a stellar job. Take a look!
If nothing else, I hope this 17-second clip shared by @gina_h8 shows moms everywhere that dads aren’t only capable of taking care of a baby (or five), but they should! It’s not babysitting when they’re your DNA, and even by Budgie standards, this little buddy deserves all the kudos.
People Are Praising the Loving Budgie
Obviously, those “babies” in the clip are pretty big now, but that doesn’t stop the sweet bird dad from doing what needs to be done, and fans are here for it.
“He still sees them as his babies,” one person wrote, with crying face emojis. “A single dad who works two jobs, who loves kids, and never stops,” another praised. “They may be getting ready to go off to college; however, they are still his babies and always will be,” another added.
It’s true—no matter how big kids get, they’re always our babies! Here’s another glimpse of Dad’s devotion to his family, while Mom gets some rest.

Budgies Are Typically Good Parents
Like humans, not every pet will naturally be a good parent. The Budgie sets the bar for dads everywhere, but much of it has to do with age, environment, and their general personality, as to whether other birds could step up in this way.
These social birds do best when they get plenty of time with their people, though the next best thing is another Budgie, so they don’t get lonely. Having a partner and babies likely gives them more of a purpose—a fulfilling and complete life surrounded by everyone they love and care for.
That doesn’t always translate to taking care of babies, but with their friendly and outgoing nature and sweet dispositions, it sure can! This good dad proves it, and honestly, good for him. That mama bird must be so grateful to have a loyal 100/100 partner like him!
