Three people have been rushed to hospital after a crash on a major road in Bristol this afternoon (Saturday, October 11). The crash, which took place on Brunel Way shortly before 12.20pm, involved a collision between two cars and a van.

One person’s injuries are said to be “potentially life-threatening”, while another person’s injuries were described as “serious” but not believed to be life-threatening.

Brunel Way is currently closed between its junctions with the A370 and Bristol Gate while investigations take place.

Speaking to Bristol Live, a representative of Avon and Somerset Police said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a serious injury collision on Brunel Way in Bristol. It was called in just before 12.20pm on Saturday 11 October.

“Three people have gone to hospital. Two went by ambulance. One of these has injuries currently described as potentially life-threatening, the other has serious injuries not believed to be either life-threatening or life-changing.

“The collision between two cars and a van has blocked the road. The A3029 Brunel Way is closed between its junctions with the A370 and Bristol Gate while investigations are completed and pending recovery of the vehicles.

“Road closures are in place at the junctions with Ashmead Way, Cabot Way, Humphrey Davy Way and Mcadam Way.”

Police went on to confirm a second crash nearby: “There has been a further collision on nearby Ashton Road, involving a car and a motorcycle. Thankfully the injuries in this second collision are not currently believed to be either life-threatening or life-changing.

“Motorists are asked to avoid the area.”
